1978
An idea is born
In 1978, Wolfgang Grenke had an idea. Modern telephone systems, copiers and computers were finding their way into more and more offices. So he decided to make the associated investments easier by offering companies attractive leases. Having established his one-man business in Baden-Baden, he began a success story that shows no sign of slowing down. Even in the first year, Wolfgang Grenke and two employees oversaw 21 resellers and 198 leases. He saw massive potential in leasing low-cost office equipment (small-ticket IT leasing).
1990
Breaking down barriers
The company, now renamed GRENKELEASING KG, was expanding rapidly. Our first branches were established in the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1990, GRENKE proved itself a pioneer yet again: even before reunification, we opened our own branch in former East Berlin. In the years that followed, we set up a further eight branches in Germany and Austria. In December 1997, the company became a stock corporation.
2000
IPO and even stronger performance
In April 2000, GRENKE went public. The company has been listed on the SDAX since March 2003. However, it remains faithful to its promise to work with small and mid-sized businesses on an equal footing and as a reliable partner. In 2005, the company set up its Factoring business area.
2004
Opening of first branch
GRENKE proudly opens its Irish headquarters and the first branch in Sandyford Business District, Dublin.
2009
Opening of additional branches
GRENKE opens new branches in Belfast in 2009, Cork in 2011 and then subsequently Fingal in 2012, expanding the growing team and branches and ensuring that we have sales teams in all corners of the country.
2015
The second business unit
In 2015 GRENKE Invoice Finance opened its first office in Dublin, Sandyford. Since then it has grown the reach of the sales team offering smart invoice finance solutions to customers all over Ireland.
2019
Today we are ideally placed for the future
GRENKE spans the globe with a presence in 32 countries. What was once a one-man business is now a multinational group of companies with a wide range of services. In addition to leasing IT and office equipment, GRENKE now offers financing for a host of other items. Factoring and banking services complete our comprehensive portfolio for start-ups, mid-sized businesses and private individuals.
